Past Board Member - Anna Frutos Sanchez

Anna Frutos Sanchez is a twenty-year employee of Southern California Edison, (the nation's second largest investor-owned utility, based in Rosemead), is the Public Affairs Region Manager responsible for the cities of Santa Clarita, San Fernando, Simi Valley, Moorpark, and Fillmore. Anna's primary responsibilities include interfacing with the Cities, City Council, and other governmental entities and she manages the company's governmental relations and involvement in the community. She is the face of the company and is present to answer questions, offer solutions and provide information. As the Public Affairs Region Manager, Anna also focuses on developing and advocating consistent public policy, legislation and regulations affecting Southern California Edison. Anna is bilingual and fluent in Spanish.

Anna is active on many non-profit Boards and currently serves on the Executive Board of Directors of the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce, Valley Industry Association in Santa Clarita (VIA), Boys and Girls Club of Santa Clarita, San Fernando Chamber of Commerce, Simi Valley Chamber of Commerce, Moorpark Chamber of Commerce, and California Hispanic Corporate Council Leadership Institute (CHCCLI). She is also active with Edison's affinity group, the Latino Employees Association for Development (LEAD).

Anna's altruistic nature has been demonstrated through her efforts to not only serve her community but most especially to assist and give aid to the less fortunate through connecting herself with many non-profit organizations. Anna received several awards from Congresswoman Hilda Solis, Assemblymember Judy Chu, Assemblymember Ed Chavez, Senator Gloria Romero and Senator Ron Calderon for her active community service. In July 2006, Anna transferred to the Santa Clarita Valley as the Public Affairs Region Manager for her new area of responsibility; prior to her departure Anna's previous cities El Monte, Baldwin Park, Montebello, Commerce, San Gabriel and South El Monte honored her during a council meeting and presented her with city plaques and several resolutions from legislative staff members for her dedicated service to these communities.

Anna earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara, after completing an Associate of Arts degree from Ventura College. She has completed several leadership programs with Landmark Education and continues to participate in Edison training classes to keep current on Edison issues.

Anna lives in Santa Clarita with her husband Robert, SCE Supervisor Construction Maintenance Accounting, and granddaughter Alissa Castaneda, eleventh grade student. Anna is very involved with the education of her granddaughter and grandchildren, and during her spare time Anna enjoys bicycling, walking, dancing. An accomplishment of Anna is that she completes the 50-mile bike ride from Rosarito to Ensenada twice a year, in April and again in September.
